We always dream of travelling to a European country, but we are always in this dilemma about Schengen visa rejections 😒. It has become a nightmare for everyone after hearing many stories about the same.

In this post, I am going to mention complete details and reasons of Schengen/Europe visa rejection and how you can successfully get visa approval.

I, Aarushi after successfully obtaining and using 5 Schengen Visas, I can definitely give my suggestions. However I am not a visa agent, all advice and suggestions are based out of my experiences.

How to apply Schengen Visa?

Here are some important points that leads to rejection of Schengen Visa:

1. If application form is not filled correctly, Passport numbers, dates, name etc are wrong, then it can lead to rejection of visa.

2. No travel insurance can lead to rejection no matter what travel history you have. Travel Insurance is mandatory.

3. Passport should have atleast 2 to 4 blank pages left for visa, if not then visa will get rejected.

4. Not showing your employment proof or business proof can lead to rejection.

5. Having any criminal records can lead to rejection.

6. If visa is not applied in specified time, then it will lead to delays and rejection of visa.

7. Not showing your income proof like ITR and bank statement of last 3 months together can lead to rejection.

8. Showing dummy air tickets or no return air tickets leads to rejection.

9. Not showing confirmed hotel bookings can cause rejection. These days there are pay later options which are best for booking hotels.

10. Bank statement has to have regular flow of income with expenses. For Schengen visa, anywhere between 1.5 to 2 lakhs balance is enough for single person after booking air tickets. if not, then it might lead to visa rejection.

11. Taking a lump sum from family or friends for travel in bank account and showing that as means to survival will definitely lead to visa rejection.

12. A hand written, absence or an unprofessional cover letter leads to rejection. A detail cover letter with purpose and itinerary for travel is mandatory.

13. Photo specification if incorrect, application will not processed further.

14. Having no travel history also leads to rejection sometimes, If you are applying a Schengen visa for the first time and have not travelled to any foreign country before, this can make your application a bit weaker.

15. Travel to visa free country do not make application strong for schengen visa.

16. All documents for schengen visa should be in COLOR, and not black and white.

These are a few main pointers to keep in mind before applying a schengen visa.
